Opening Reception at Manchester Town Hall

Affectionately known as “King Cotton’s Palace”, Manchester’s Town Hall is an opulent testament to the success of the city after the Industrial Revolution. The atmosphere created by the neo-Gothic styling – employing hammer beam ceilings, mosaic floors and clustered columns – creates a deep impression on guests. The Great Hall, modelled on a Flemish weavers hall is decorated by 12 murals by the Pre-Raphaelite artist Ford Madox Brown and infers a gravitas on any gathering.
